Wynn Sports Book Director John Avello appears on CNBC To Discuss Football
I doubt that many of you out there caught it but Wynn Sports Book Director John Avello made an appearamce on CNBC to briefly discuss the business of odds-making today. I don't have a link so that you could watch a replay but his short interview was mildly interesting.
Avello said that over 50% of the revenues from the Sports Book come between Labor Day and Thanksgiving due to football wagering. He added that college football wagering was more popular than NFL wagering due to the sheer number of games and the large universe of teams compared to the NFL. As a result regular players of college football tend to win more than regular players of NFL games. Avello countered that by saying that almost any NFL game is a deeper wagering pool because there are only 16 teams to choose from,
No earth-shattering revelations were given, nor were expected. It is merely confirmation that this blog is "playing" in the most fertile ground possible; College Football.
